Living Life Ready

He was ready!

I could see it in the sparkle in his eyes and the confident way he held up his new backpack on his small shoulders. A smile played over his lips and I could feel the excitement radiating through him.

He had been ready for a long time, but today the day had finally arrived. The day he could get on the school bus and join his older brother at school. Walking up the steep bus steps he never stopped to even glance back in my direction, even though I was desperately trying to swallow back the lump that was forming in my throat.

My baby was growing up and all though I had mixed feelings about that it did give me comfort to see how ready he was for this new chapter in his life.

Walking back home on my own from the bus stop, I couldn't get his smiling face out of my mind. He sure was ready, and it suddenly struck me that, that was how I wanted to live my life too. Ready.

Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matthew 24:44

I want to live my life with joy and confidence in my Saviour.
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13

I want to listen and be ready to do whatever God directs and in so doing walking a straight path.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

I want to spend my time on things that matter.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

And use the talents God gives me to do whatever He directs me.
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us,whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.Romans 12:6-8

I want to be strong and courageous.
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9

Always abiding in the work of the Lord.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58

And I want to live life, ready to die.
But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God. My times are in thy hand: Psalm 31: 14-15a

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18
